Papillomavirus

Papillomavirus often causes very serious health problems. The disease is under constant eye of modern medicine.  Lately medical science has been able to develop a number of innovative methods for the diagnosis and treatment of papillomavirus.

Papillomavirus (or as it is called human papilloma virus or HPV  is widespread and affects approximately equally both men and women and takes genital herpes after the second highest detection rate. In screening studies, papillomavirus has been detected about seven out of ten women. Among the manifestations of HPV infection are found only half. This means that half of the cases of infection with HPV has no symptoms and is found expressed only in the special survey.

About a third of them – causes lesions on skin and on mucous membrane in the genitals of women. In addition, this group of human papillomaviruses should separately identify types of human papillomaviruses – HPV16, HPV18, HPV31, HPV33, HPV35, HPV39, HPV45, HPV51 and HPV52, which possesses oncogene properties, that is capable of causing cancer. The most common type of cancer lesions on woman genitals is a result of infection with HPV is cervical cancer. The most common manifestations of these dangerous types of HPV in women is genital warts, flat warts (warts external genitals, warts around the anus), and dysplasia of cervical mucous. In addition to these manifestations, papillomavirus other types may manifest as plantar warts, skin warts, genital warts in the mouth, respiratory tract papillomatosis.

The main mode of transmission is sexual, while in the case of one of the manifestations of the partners in the form of genital warts probability of infection of the other partner is close to one hundred percent. A condom can only reduce the likelihood of infection, but does not guarantee against it.
